The Lisbon-Dakar Rally
The Lisbon-Dakar rally will depart from the Portuguese capital on December 31, 2005.
27 Portuguese teams will participate with a record number of 240 motorbikes, 188 cars, 80 trucks and 240 assistance vehicles.
After traveling through Portugal, Spain and Morocco, the rally will pass through Mauritania, Mali, Guinea-Conakry and Senegal with the climax on January 15 in Dakar, Senegal having traversed the 9,043 km (5,606 miles) route.
Portugal will host the start of the rally until 2008.
