Pumpkin Bar, Lisbon
Lisbon's thousands of neighborhood bars – boteco – like bars anywhere, often strive to differentiate themselves from others. This little bar located not far from the Museo da Marioneta on Rua da Esperança stopped me in my tracks with nothing more unique than a massive pumpkin - or, abobora, on the obviously very sturdy glass cabinet.
A wonderful symbol of autumn hospitality, this scene summed up the color and occasional quirkiness of Lisbon and its culture.
